CEZOA would like to thank the City of Hyattsville for hosting the 2025 Winter Meeting. They started things off with an incredible breakfast spread.

CEZOA President Pamla Bennett (New Carrollton) announced her retirement on 4/30/2025, and this meeting will be her last President. Vice-President Darryl Green (New Carrollton) will assume the role of President for the remainder of the term and was elected as the next President for 2025-2026.

Elections were held for the 2025/2026 CEZOA Executive Committee with the following Results:

President: Darryl Green – New Carrollton

Vice-President – Alice Legare-Martinek – Bowie

Secretary – Muir Boda – Salisbury

Treasurer – Kris Phillips – Laurel

Meeting Schedule for 2025/2026

  1. Summer 25 – Bowie
  2. Fall 25 – Salisbury
  3. Winter 26 – Laurel
  4. Spring 26 – New Carrollton
  5. Summer 26 – Howard County
  6. Fall 26 – Greenbelt

Training Session – Verbal Judo/De-Escalation

Hyattsville provided the speaker for the training session. A/Lt. Nemser is a certified instructor for the Hyattsville Police Department. The training came from a program called ICAT – Integrated Communications, Assessment, and Tactics.

We discussed:

  1. Handling critical incidents
  2. Tactical Communications
  3. Dealing with people in crisis
  4. Defusing critical incidents
